Leather Colour Restoration Services
If you are considering getting your leather sofa restored it is important that the cushions have not sagged too much for the restoration work to hold.
I would recommend you look at an upholster to re-stuff the cushions before getting the leather restored if there is a lot of sag.
We use https://www.royalupholstery.ie/ when recommending to a customer, a family run buisness and they don't cut corner by using the best of materials.
If possible, you can get your leather item to our workshop in Castlebellingham Co.Louth, it is a very dusty process and using the bigger compressor in the workshop gives a finer finish. We can collect and delivery for an extra cost of €250.
Every leather has its own history and requires its own personal individual restoration whether its a Semi aniline, aniline or pigment hide every job is different. In our trade less product used is better for the feel of the hide but sometimes we have to use more in order to give restoration work longevity.
Our Process
The leather is cleaned and a leather revive is used before any restoration is carried out this process is done by osmosis .. there's no point in restoring the look of the leather without conditioning the hide underneath(restoring the natural protein fats, PH level, that leather needs to stay supple and soft)
● Any weakness in the hide is strengthened by using a binder as many times as required.
● The surface is prepped for recolouring.
● Adhesive promoter is applied
● Colour is sprayed on (less is best!)
● A lacquer is sprayed on, 4 to 5 coats with a cross linker in it. (Cross linker gives the lacquer a hard
wearing surface, it's what they use in leather car seats)
● The leather can not be used for 24hrs
Original colour restoration: Can be done on site at your home, the process is dusty. A collection/delivery service is not offered due to the costs associated with furniture transportation and if you want it to be done in the workshop you have to arrange this yourself, we have not yet found a partner that we could refer you to .. yet.
Cost: Depending on the type of leather and amount of leather pricing starts from €480 (one armchair)
Full colour change and restoration: Has to be done in the workshop over 2 weeks. A collection and delivery service is available for €250 depending on location.
Cost: Depending on the type of leather and amount of leather pricing starts from €580 (one armchair)
Semi aniline Restoration
Process:
● The leather is cleaned, cleaned again with leather prep and lightly cleaned with an alcohol base cleaner to open the hides pores. A combination mix of dye and leather revive is used before any restoration is carried out on the surface of the hide.
● More coats of dye are added if needs be to blend in the fade areas.
● If required more leather-revive is applied.
● A light lacquer coat is applied.
● Protection cream.
Please note: With semi aniline hides you never end up with it looking like new, it's a porous material and not all stains and colour imperfections are hidden.
